I recently went to my favorite nail spot on 2nd Ave between 3&4th, to get a pre holiday party mani. After grabbing my usual black, or nude, I noticed that Essie had just released their holiday collection, a surprisingly light hearted color pallet of silvers, purples, and greys! Y.E.S. PLEASE. I am so in love with this light purple grayish color from the collection, called Virgin Snow. Let's redefine holiday colors this season with romantic pastels on our paws.

The Air

New York reminded me today why I loved living here again. The summer’s grime had just enough raw winter nights to make the streets feel clean again and the air was nippy, and honest. I love this place.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what holidays mean for people in their early twenties without children, and in the midst of fighting for their dream jobs, or creating something they are proud of. It’s a bizarre time of self-evaluation. Today, over tea and the best treats at Mansion Lauduree’ Soho, it was all about dressing for comfort. A best friend passed down this vintage PJ suit (CatID Kerrin), and I truly could not love it more. I think New York almost forces you to mix elements of clothing, maybe that one would not first think of as workable for a look. Sneakers have become such a phenomenon, but such a key part in my surviving actual walking in the city, and they really take nothing away from you’re outfit, (if anything the element of practicality is sexy).  XXX C

I read a lot of reviews about the Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab kit before purchasing it a few days ago, and to be honest it exceeded my expectations. I feel really undone without a nice mani, but it really is a little excessive to get one once a week, at about $25 a pop here in NYC. As I sat in a nail salon somewhere on Mott St. after the Mulberry + Cara party tonight in Soho, I was thinking how funny of a time in life this really is. "Everybody that was anybody," was at the party crowded around a small table in the back of the store, hammering their initials into multi colored DIY leather bracelets. My moon symbol ended up looking more like all the phases of the moon, and my C.M. initials were upside-down, but it was a cute party favor in the end. When people ask me if I consider myself and "socialite," I like to clarify and say I'm a girl, that's social, and hope I can spread some sort of light and levity to the fashion scene. I don't take any of this to seriously, and think the best part of fashion week is playing dress, up and being inspired by others amazing style and talent.

My two nail polishes sat side by side on the manicure desk, black or pink- glitter-sparkle, & for the sake of my message, and less about matching my outfit, I picked the glitter sparkle ;) Take it easy, laugh at yourself, and put on some glitter polish on like this deborah lippmann shade I choose in Flash Dance xxxC

There’s this extreme feeling of gratitude that washes over me on a particular New York Street as I walk the same sentimental Sunday walk I do weekly, and look forward to immensely. It’s an internal beat, a mental clarity, which comes when the city is calm and forgiving. This walk almost seems like a salutation of youth, a bizarre mixture of joy and humility, with a twenty- year- old fear of the future. This Sunday’s Sentiments are about succumbing to the youthful discomfort change brings, learning to embrace joyful moments for just what they are, and living fully present in the experiences that will one day become the coveted memories we re-tell in our elder years.
