Gloucester Massachusetts | Bar Harbor Maine

Maine Steamers in Bar Harbor

I tested a lot of theories this summer. The first being; how much lobster is TOO much lobster for a person to consume in a week. The results of my analysis were simple. It’s clear I do not seem to have a shellfish allergy, but when consumed in excessive amounts, lobster begins to seep from ones pours, creating an interesting perfume that lets just say is very different from my usual Le Labo Oud. Despite a short moment contemplating my potential issues with overindulgence, I had a wonderfully calm summer on the water in Mass/Maine with my love, good friends, and my parents. I’m realizing that my boyfriend Marq and I may have something Ill call, “underwhelmed syndrome". We climbed a mountain, ate at what Portland and Bar Harbor consider the best restaurants, ventured around, finding ourselves constantly underwhelmed by what others have deemed incredible. It’s comical really at this point, that too such assholes can find each other, but we realized in Maine that we may be getting a little out of hand. We swapped out the cheap imitation butter that comes on the side of a boiled lobster dinner for our favorite hand made Amish slab that we carry in our car travel cooler. We then proceeded to melt it in the hot sun on the corner of the table, because we were both to embarrassed to ask them to melt our BYOB. Like jesus, actually who are we. And so the summer ends, a pseudo foodie in training and her chef travel back to NYC. Lollz. In all seriousness we had an amazing time. It was my first time in the state of Maine (believe it or not), and I found it truly beautiful. The farmers market in Portland is a must. We then we drove past Bangor to Swans Island, Near Bar Harbor. I love being off the grid. You take a 20 min ferry to get to the Island, and find yourself in a postcard worthy beach town with now restaurants and one general store. After a night on the island we proceeded to scale Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. This trip is a New England must do.

Peace, Love & Comedy, Claire

LatelyIveBeen.Com Threw A Penthouse Champagne Party at The Smyth Tribeca

|...The 1st of many LatelyIveBeen.Com champagne parties|

Wow; It's been a while since I had time to sit down and write. Firstly, I just celebrated my 25th birthday! 24 was one of the most challenging years of my life thus far, with so many invaluable lessons learned. It was an especially important year for LatelyIveBeen, the brand is growing so quickly, and I feel so blessed to share all of this with you guys as I take it to the next level! LatelyIveBeen for me, represents a lifestyle. A never stop dreaming attitude that becomes reality. I've never been one to follow the rules. Convention truly bores me, I believe in living life for you, and truly loving what you do. As dark as our political times are, there is a beauty and light this day and age sheds on the creative world. A true opportunity to take passions and turn them into capitol, as you share them with the world. At LatelyIveBeen, that's the goal, and that brings me to this post! We had the first LatelyIveBeen.Com champagne tea party in the penthouse of The Smyth Tribeca, a Thompson Hotel. This night marked the first of many Champagne teas that I will be hosting around the city, partnering with some of my favorite boutique hotels. The idea is to bring a group of creatives together, people who may not have had the opportunity to meet, and throw an intimate party where people with similar interests can connect. Our first party was a beautiful success, a night of endless champagne, cheese plates, prosciutto, wine, and the best company, in a setting truly made for a princess. We ended our night as a group at Casablanca dancing to the oldies. I can't imaging a better first event. (Take a peek at the bts images below!)

We are keeping the champagne teas guest list super small moving forward, but I want to get the chance to meet some of you! Send an email to Management@latelyIveBeen.com telling us at  a little bit about you're creative passions, for a chance to be invited to the next tea! Look forward to hearing from you!

Peace&Love, Claire

SF MoMa

|...Thinking in San Francisco|

The ideology behind abstract art produced in the United States after World Ward II asked us; can a sculpture or painting capture a thought, a kind of energy, or an emotion?

Walking through the newly renovated SF MOMA today, a similar sentiment crossed my mind regarding the relationship we hold to fashion & clothes, if that too can be subject to similar scrutiny, and if so what would the exploration of this look like?
